 Master
Brian Matys is the head instructor and owner of
the AmKor Collegeville
dojang. In 2005 he was promoted to the rank of 6th Degree
Black Belt. Master Matys has been a personal student
of Master Frederick Scott (the founder of AmKor)
since 1984 and was an assistant instructor at
the original AmKor dojang for 10 years.
Master Matys is one of AmKor's most accomplished
International and National competitors. He was
the Gold medallist in weapons at the 1st Tang
Soo Do, Moo Duk Kwan tournament in 2002. Master
Matys also captured the gold medal in creative
breaking, the silver in weapons , and the bronze
in team fighting at the USTL National Championship
in 2001. He was then the gold medallist in creative
breaking at the USTL National Championships in
2002. He was a Gold medallist in Forms at the
5th International Tang Soo Do Championships in
Athens, Greece and defended his title successfully
at the 6th International Tang Soo Do Championships
with a Gold Medal in Forms and a Bronze Medal
in Fighting. Master Matys was the Keystone States
Games Gold Medallist in Weapons in 1989 and a
Forms Gold Medallist in 1993. Master Matys is
known for his dynamic jump kicking technique and
is one of the top breaking demonstrators in the
Delaware Valley, appearing on Comcast SportNet
at the First Union Center in 1997 at the 11th
America Cup Karate Championships.
Master Matys brings a wealth of technical and
competitive experience to the students at AmKor
Collegeville easily distinguishing himself
and his students from the competition.
